MANSFIELD, OH- The Bruce A. Waite 5K celebrates 6 years fighting back against mesothelioma and honoring the life of former Mansfield Senior High School teacher, Bruce Waite, who died of the disease in 2003.

The event will be on Sunday, September 17, 2017, at the Ontario High School. Registration begins at 1:00 PM and the race starts at 2:00 PM. It is the only Miles for Meso race in Ohio.

New this year, there will be special prizes for kids 10 and under, as well as sweet surprises planned for everyone. The day is full of energy, music, door prizes, a quilt raffle, food, and cotton candy. The race will be chip-timed by Ohio Race Day.

There were 383 people participating last year and the event has raised over $50,000 for mesothelioma research through the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation in the first 5 years. Mesothelioma is a form of cancer caused by asbestos exposure and can take 30-40 years to manifest.

You can participate by registering or sponsoring at www.BruceWaite5K.com.
