Winners Emerge In Miss Ohio Preliminaries

MANSFIELD, OH - Miss Ohio Week continued with the competition preliminaries Thursday and Friday evening at the Renaissance Theatre. 19 women, including three local women, are competing to wear the crown for the title of Miss Ohio 2017. 

The “Scarlet” flight competed in Talent and On-Stage Questions with the “Grey” flight donning Swimsuit and Evening Wear Thursday evening, with Miss Clayland Sarah Clapper winning the swimsuit portion and Miss Oxford, Caroline Grace Williams, winning the talent portion.

Several of the talents displayed onstage included piano recitals, baton twirling, and river dancing.

The second night of preliminary competition offered pre-show entertainment at 7 p.m. Friday, with the formal competition at 7:30 p.m. The “Scarlet” flight competed in Swimsuit and Evening Wear with the “Grey” flight competing in Talent and On-Stage Questions, with Miss North Coast, Paige Wiers, winning the Swimsuit portion and Miss Clayland, Sarah Clapper, winning the talent portion.

Saturday evening's final competition will reveal the top 10 contestants and the crowning of our new Miss Ohio by current Miss Ohio Alice Magoto.

The Miss Ohio Competition has been a staple in Ohio's history since 1948. A $10-thousand dollar scholarship will go to the new Miss Ohio at the end of the competition.
